Expert appraisal

Expert appraisal depends on the availability of suitable experts and their knowledge of the users, the product and of the context in which the product is being used. It is preferable that the expert be an internal 'user champion' present throughout the design process, rather than an external 'hired help' who may only be contracted in for occasional assessments because of the cost of hiring them (typically charged per hour rather than per project).
