Deputy Systems Manager

The role holder is primarily responsible for the maintenance and system development of a set of infrastructure systems delegated to the role holder’s responsibility by the Systems Manager. These systems support a wide range of vital infrastructure services including web, email, databases, file store and authentication services.

Reporting to the Systems Manager, the role holder manages and develops core computing systems supporting the teaching, administration and network infrastructure of the Department so as to provide efficient, high performance and highly reliable central computing facilities. These systems are essential to all aspects of the Department’s activities and this role holder’s part in ensuring high availability and stability is therefore critical and requires a high level of technical skill, judgment and experience.

The role holder produces key system building blocks on which end user services can be based, and supports and develops some of these services.
