Division F IT Manager

The role holder is responsible for the management, provision and support of computing facilities throughout the Information Engineering Division. The Division has traditionally been and continues to be an aggressive and innovative user of computing resources for research and teaching, and therefore requires intensive support by highly skilled and responsive Computer Officers.

Computer support is arranged as follows: the role holder is strongly associated with the Machine Intelligence Laboratory and provides overall divisional support; one Computer Officer is strongly associated with the Signal Processing Group; and another Computer Officer is employed by a specific research project within the Machine Intelligence Laboratory; and the Control Laboratory is supported by the team. The role holder’s management task includes interfacing between divisional members of staff and other providers of computing support within the Department and the University.

The role holder reports to the Head of the Information Engineering Division for day-to-day line management; and to the Deputy Head (Research Support) of the IT Services Division for IT policy and technical guidance. The role holder also provides expert advice and practical skills to aid the design and development of Department-wide IT services.
