Geotechnical Group IT Manager

The role holder is responsible for the operation of the Geotechnical IT systems used for research, teaching and administration. These are required to operate on a continuous basis.
The post holder is responsible for systems used by a wide range of users including undergraduates doing laboratory experiments and projects; postgraduates; visitors; and staff of the Geotechnical and Environmental, Soils, Sustainable Development, and Petroleum groups. The use of these resources enables users to manage data and to communicate on a peer-to-peer, Departmental and global level.
The role holder is expected to provide information and advice on integrating new and existing IT equipment into the existing IT infrastructure.
The role holder reports to a member of the academic staff with designated responsibility for computing for day-to-day line management; and to the Deputy Head (Research Support) of the IT Services Division for IT policy and technical guidance.
