Network and Telecomms Manager

The role holder is responsible, as Network Manager, for the running, security and development of the Department’s data network, which has around 4000 systems attached to it. The network is essential to all aspects of the Department’s activities. The role holder’s responsibility for ensuring high network availability and stability is therefore critical, and requires a high level of technical and managerial skill and experience.

The role holder is also responsible for the Department’s telephones. This involves responsibility both for technical and financial aspects of their operation. The role holder is expected to provide input to the senior management of the IT Services Division relating to IT policy and strategic planning relevant to their area of responsibility. The role holder manages a group of three technicians, which is led by the IT Services Division Senior Chief Technician, who provide network, telecommunications and technical computer support throughout the Department.
