Systems Manager
The role holder is responsible for managing and developing the core computing systems supporting the teaching, administration and network infrastructure of the Department so as to provide efficient, high performance, and highly reliable centralised computing facilities. These systems are essential to all aspects of the Department’s activities and this role holder’s responsibility for ensuring high availability and stability is therefore critical and requires a high level of technical and managerial skill and experience.
The role holder must be an experienced computer professional able to make the best use of new technology continually to improve the service and respond to the Department's specialist needs. This may require substantial in-house development and testing of new systems, in addition to normal ongoing systems management and troubleshooting.
The role holder is expected to provide input to the senior management of the IT Services Division relating to IT policy and strategic planning relevant to the role holder’s areas of responsibility.
The role holder is responsible for the supervision of frontline operational staff, and the management of the Deputy Systems Manager and ad-hoc technical development teams
