Professor John Clarkson receives KU Leuven honorary doctorate for outstanding research on ageing 6 February 2012
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven confers a number of honorary doctorates in recognition of extraordinary academic, social, or cultural contributions. The university presented honorary doctorates to Laura Carstensen, John Clarkson, Roger Coleman, John Myles and Mary Tinetti. These five researchers have made and continue to make important contributions to research on ageing, this year's focus. [more]

Intrinsic Unmanufacturability 30 January 2012
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) publication "Spectrum" has named Professor Mike Kelly as "Nanotech Hero of the Year". To quote Dexter Johnson (Spectrum journalist and judge), "The main thrust of Kelly's argument is one that is not altogether that radical, which is that you may be able to fabricate one-off structures that have dimensions below 3nm but you won't be able to duplicate that in a full-scale manufacturing process." Accelerated evolution in the construction industry driven by innovation 25 January 2012
