Stem Ambassador

Boy with rocket For most Outreach activities, you should become a STEM Ambassador. This is a UK-wide government backed scheme which provides opportunities and support for people working in or studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects. It aims to encourage uptake of these shortage subjects among school children. STEM ambassadors have public liability insurance if their activities are notified to STEM TEAM Cambridgeshire in advance of the event and the application process includes a free Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. This is the process used in the UK to safeguard children and vulnerable adults by checking the backgrounds of those who want to work with them. It gives reassurance to schools and families. Finally, STEM TEAM Cambridgeshire keep an auditable record of all your volunteer activities. This is good for your CV and meets the participation requirements of some student sponsorship packages.
