It brings me great joy to study the theory of turbulent combustion. Many basic questions remain open in this field. What governs the shape of a turbulent flame? How do the local shapes relate with the burning rate? Why does the burning rate vanish under certain conditions? Which conditions are most amenable to combustion of a flammable mixture? I am interested in conducting mathematical analyses, high-fidelity simulations, and experiments for addressing these questions to inform and develop models of turbulent combustion. Industrial engine design stand to benefit from this research pursuit by helping mitigate costs and fuel usage.
