I focus on understanding the mechanism(s) by which turbulence-flame interactions effect local and global flame extinction in premixed combustion. The major underlying topics that I investigate are high-intensity turbulence, complex flame chemistry and numerical boundary conditions in the context of direct numerical simulations. I am keen to apply my work towards improving combustion models relevant to large-eddy simulations of gas turbine engines.
