Research projects
EPSRC Digital twins for improved dynamic design (http://digitwin.ac.uk/). The aim of this project is to create a robustly-validated virtual prediction tool called a "digital twin": (i) radically improve design methodology leading to significant cost savings, and (ii) transform uncertainty management of key industrial assets, enabling a step change reduction in the associated operation and management costs.
Biography
Jiannan Yang received his PhD in Sound and Vibration from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton in 2012. After his PhD, he has worked in the Research and Development Department of Hitachi in both Japan and the UK. At Hitachi, Jiannan worked on various rolling stock projects for noise and vibration control, including the high-speed Intercity Express Trains (IET) that went into passenger service on Oct 2017 in England. Jiannan has joined the DigiTwin project since Oct 2018 and he is looking at improved engineering design for digital twin applications. Jiannan is affiliated to the Postdoctoral Society of Trinity College
