Research interests

Dr Yuan's research interests include:

  • System Identification and Machine Learning: identifiability for (non-)linear systems and identification of such systems when the sample number is small.
  • Systems and Synthetic Biology: modelling, analysis, and control of biological systems (genetic regulatory networks, neuron networks).
  • Complex Networks: robustness and symmetry in complex networks.

Strategic themes

Modelling, analysis, and control of biological systems.

Teaching activity

Supervision 3F1, 3F2

Other positions

He was a visiting researcher at MIT and Caltech. He is now a visiting researcher at LCSB and Imperial College.

He received his B.Eng. degree (Valedictorian) from the Department of Automation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 9.2008, M. Phil. and Ph.D. from the Department of Engineering, Cambridge University in 10.2009 and 2.2012 respectively. He is now a Junior Research Fellow in Darwin College and a research associate in Control Group, Department of Engineering.  His research interest lies in the mathematical control theory with applications to network and biology.
