Extended Exercises
After the short labs, there is an open-ended "extended exercise". This is an exploratory activity based on the topics covered in the short labs, with a choice of subject. The exercise comprises an initial plan, lab work, a presentation and a summary report.
Each pair should email Dr Shercliff by the date shown in the schedule, giving a first and second choice of extended exercise. Give a title (and perhaps a sentence or two) - not just the topic area or short lab on which it is based. We endeavour to give everyone their first choice, but this may be limited by equipment availability.
Suggested Extended Exercises
The navigation bar on the left contains suggestions for extended exercises; remember, you are free (and encouraged) to develop and propose your own ideas, and are encouraged to do so. Whatever exercise you choose, you will have to decide what to investigate and how to approach the task, as well as what aspects of the problem to focus on.
