The IB Integrated Coursework is a set of short laboratory experiments with an open-ended extended exercise built around the central inter-disciplinary theme of 'Buildings in Earthquakes'. The disciplines brought together in this problem are:
Vibration
Structures
Soil Mechanics
Signal Processing
During this activity (which takes place in a 4-week period) students will conduct a standard short (2 hour) experiment on each of the above topics. They then carry out an extended exercise, spending a further 2-4 hours in the lab. This is a piece of open-ended, exploratory work proposed by the students, to investigate a particular aspect of the problem, drawing on the topics and techniques in the short labs.
In due course, the Power Amplifier short experiment should become part of the Integrated Coursework. Students may propose extended exercises on this topic.
See the Introductory Notes (isssued at the opening lecture) for administrative details and instructions (including assessment, standard credit, staff contact details).
