Databases and Vacation Work Web Sites
CUED Employers Database - "CHOICE"
The best place for any CUED student to start their jobsearch is with our own CUED database, CHOICE, which is a collection of organisations that have had some connection with CUED in the past in relation to industrial experience. With over 2000 organisations listed, start here first to activate your campaign, then build up the numbers using the other databases to increase your contacts. You can use the database to send speculative applications and/or apply for specific opportunities on offer.
We will send you a regular update on new organisations or ones that become "active" or "Live" or you can check the Current Undergraduates page.
Before you use the database, you might care to note that there are some guidelines that you are expected to adhere to when dealing with the employers that we collaborate with. Click the Etiquette guide link to find out the do's and don'ts.
Our colleagues in Cambridge University Careers Service have a Vacation Work Database - just log on and you can look at current vacancies and they will also forward future jobs that match your search criteria. AGCAS are the national University Careers Service organisation, and they facilitate vacation work via their PROSPECTS web site.
You might want to focus on a Region usually near your home, however the Cambridge area has an abundance of Technology based comapnies and of course you already have accommodation available in your College as you can normally stay in College for the summer. Some Cambridge Regional databases are available via the Database Links. There will be similar types of databases which serve your home region. Local newspapers can be another good source.
