Spanish course
Spanish is certainly one of the best things I gained along with my undergrad studies. I benefited almost immediately from it, and it would continue to be a great asset of mine for decades to come.
I took three years of Spanish classes with Ruth and Sebastian in the Language Unit at CUED, thanks to my teachers! In the summer that followed, I joined a social-technical project engaged in Latin America, and went to Ecuador for a five-week placement. My Spanish knowledge was incredibly useful for our work and fun there. Our team visited local factories, worked with local NGO directors and volunteers, and talked to impoverished communities and government bodies. Such work was nearly impossible without a Spanish speaker, and what we did in Ecuador helped kick start a large initiative in Cambridge afterwards.
With a new language, comes a whole new world of experiences and opportunities. Once gained, they will be yours for a lifetime. (By the way, it's free!)

Japanese summer course
I did the basic Japanese course with Mikiko for 3 weeks as I was planning to go to Japan for a meeting plus holiday. The course was really intense but fun. We could learn basic sentences that I found useful when I was out in Japan.
I would recommend the course to people who wants to learn a bit of Japanese. Unfortunately in Japan it is difficult to find English speakers so having a basic knowledge of the language really helps.

I enjoy the course very much and it is amazing that I can make such a progress within only 18 hours. Now I can make short conversation with Japanese friends and I can understand some parts when I watch Japanese films and anime. I really like the way you give the course - in such a friendly atmosphere, we gain a very strong foundation of Japanese, based on which we can easily make more progress. Definitely I will recommend the course to my friends. In fact, I've already done that. Thank you very much for your help during the course and hope to meet you again in further study.
