Tristan Whitmarsh obtained a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and a Master degree in Game and Media Technology from the Utrecht University in The Netherlands whereby his thesis work was done at IMATI-CNR in Genoa, Italy. Afterwards he spent nine months at the University of Geneva in Switzerland as a Research Assistant with MIRALab. Tristan joined the Center for Computational Imaging & Simulation Technologies in Biomedicine (CISTIB) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain in June 2008 where he developed a technique for the 3D reconstruction of bone structures from Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry images for an improved osteoporotic fracture risk assessment. Under the supervision of Prof. Alejandro Frangi he received his PhD degree (summa cum laude) in September 2012. During his PhD studies Tristan did a six month research visit at the Private Universität für Gesundheitswissenschaften, Medizinische Informatik und Technik (UMIT), Institut für Biomedizinische Bildanalyse, Hall in Tirol, Austria and a seven month stay at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sheffield in the UK. In November 2012 Tristan joined the team of Dr Graham Treece and Dr Andrew Gee at the Department of Engineering of the University of Cambridge, where he is currently working on assessing the cortical bone remodeling in response to pharmaceutical treatment in collaboration with Dr Ken Poole of the Departement of Medicine.
