Biography
Roberto is Executive Director of SCENE, the Simons Collaboration on Ecological Neuroscience, project-scene.org — an international research programme funded by the Simons Foundation and hosted at the Department of Engineering, bringing together around twenty principal investigators across fifteen institutions in five countries. He is responsible for the collaboration's strategic coordination, governance, communications, events and research operations.
He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics at Sapienza – University of Rome in 2011, working on differential models and numerical methods for Photometric Stereo, a technique for 3D shape recovery. Before moving into research leadership he held postdoctoral positions at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and the University of Bologna, and was a Marie Curie fellow (INdAM) at Cambridge.
