Manufacturing and management
Our work at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) focuses on the current issues being faced by the manufacturing industry and we work in partnerships with companies in a wide variety of sectors providing a link between academy and industry. This allows us to focus on areas such as the integration of technology into business decision making and sustainable manufacturing, as well as exploring the understanding and application of science in manufacturing processess at component level. We provide practical research to address practical issues as well as forums for industry and academic discussions. Our research interests include RFID technology development, impact of technology, human expertise and organisational culture on decision making, changing nature of manufacturing and strategic role within companies and economies, and international manufacturing.
