8th Annual Lecture Series in Sustainable Development 2009-10

The Department's Centre for Sustainable Development hosts an Annual Lecture Series where experts distinguished in the field of sustainable development give a presentation on their subject.

The events are free and open to the public.

The lectures are held in Lecture Theatre 0 in the Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street, Cambridge. The lectures are on Wednesday evenings, 5:30 for 6:00 p.m and are concluded by 7:30pm. The 2009-2010 series is listed below:

7th October
Cradle to Cradle Design
Bill McDonough (William McDonough and Partners Author of “Cradle to Cradle”)

Bill McDonough will speak about his Cradle to Cradle philosophy and design practice. This vision of the hopeful, positive, and inspiring possibilities of an environmentally and economically intelligent future by design draws inspiration from the astonishing effectiveness of natural systems. Cradle to Cradle design as opposed to "cradle to grave" offers a new paradigm for human activity that creates a sustaining relationship with the natural world by emulating living systems that are effective, cyclical, synergetic and regenerative.
