Engineering Connections Showcase

Engineering Connections Showcase

The Department of Engineering is opening its doors on 5 November 2008 for the third of the Engineering Connections series which aims to reveal to companies in and around Cambridge the latest research from Cambridge University's largest department. The event will showcase the work of the Cambridge Integrated Knowledge Centre (CIKC) for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies for Photonics and Electronics - exploiting molecular and macromolecular materials.

On this occasion the event will take place at the Electrical Engineering Division which is housed within the CAPE building at West Cambridge. This early evening event will provide an opportunity for CIKC to showcase their work by giving a series of lively presentations, demos, posters and by offering the guests a tour of these state of the art premises.

CIKC brings together research activities in molecular and macromolecular materials in the Electrical Engineering Division and in the Cavendish Laboratory (Physics) with the expertise of the Judge Business School, the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) and the Centre for Business Research (CBR), to create innovative knowledge exchange activities spanning research, training and technology exploitation. CIKC is developing manufacturing technologies using materials such as polymers, advanced liquid crystals and nanostructures, for applications in computer and sensing technologies, displays and communication systems, and aims to create valid exploitation routes for these innovations through a strong partnership with business. The event will provide a unique opportunity to get a real feeling for the work being undertaken in the exciting field of molecular and macromolecular materials.
