SAMIA event

A blue plaque placed in honour of Sir Frank Whittle, will be unveiled at the main entrance to The Department of Engineering at 14.00 on Tuesday 13 January, 2004.

This event, which has been organised by Samia (The Sir Arthur Marshall Institute for Aeronautics) will be followed by lectures from two of SAMIA's Honorary Fellows, Phil Ruffles ("Future Prospects for Aeroengines") and John Green ("Green Aviation"). The lectures will be held in the Upper Hall, Jesus College from 15:15 to 17:00 and will be followed by drinks in the Main Hall. A coach will leave the Department at 14:30 to take people to Jesus College.

Numbers for the lectures are limited. If you wish to attend, please contact Mary Aldridge to book a place.

SAMIA, the Sir Arthur Marshall Institute for Aeronautics, has been founded as a joint initiative between Marshall Aerospace and Cambridge University Engineering Department to honour Sir Arthur's contributions by supporting interdisciplinary teaching and research within the Department.
