A new scheme that offers engineering undergraduates in their 1st, 2nd and 3rd years to work with researchers in CUED and Chemical Engineering during the summer of 2003 has been launched.
Up to twenty places are available on research projects ranging from 'welding the next generation aerobus' and 'bio-manufacturing' to 'effective business models for innovation' and 'photonic communications'.
Students selected for the scheme will be paid to take on a specific piece of research in their selected area for a period of 10 weeks. This will bring them in close contact with research staff and students, and enable them to experience life at the cutting edge of engineering research.
The scheme is based on a similar scheme that has been running at MIT since 1969.
