Work Experience 2026 - Applications are now open!

Thank you for your interest in work experience in the Department of Engineering.

The placement will take place the week commencing the 13th July 2026 from Monday to Friday. Unfortunately, due to staff commitments we are unable to run work placements outside of this time frame.

When filling in your application please give as much detail as possible. Why are you interested in joining us? What interests you about engineering, and is there a specific type of engineering you're particularly interested in? Have you got any engineering related interests, such as making models, reading articles or watching videos? We are particularly keen to receive applications from students who are interested in vocational pathways such as apprenticeships. We receive many applications for the places and want to ensure that we match the students to the most appropriate placements areas so please tell us all about your interests!

Anyone who is in Yrs 10 -13 and a permanent resident in the UK is welcome to make an application. We are unable to fund accommodation and expenses, such as meals and travel  that may be incurred. However, all necessary PPE will be provided without charge.

Notice about apprenticeships

In Sept 2026 the Department is hoping to reopen it's apprenticeship program. Any updates on this will be posted on this page, so if this is something you are interested in please bookmark this page and revisit later in the year to check for developments.
