Dr. Sripriya Rengaraju is a Senior Research Associate (SRA) in Prof.Abir Al-Tabba's research group.  Currently, she is working on self-healing and self immunity materials, that retards the cracks and corrosion process respectively. In addition to studying corrosion mechanisms, she is also implementing different types of sensors to devise an effective strategy for structural health monitoring in field applications, particularly for road infrastructure. She is also engaged in waste utilisation and life cyle assessment of innovative concrete aimed to meet the NetZero targets. Previously, she was a member of the RM4L project team, which focused on developing resilient materials for life of the structure.

She did her PhD from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. Her doctoral work was a part of Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) project in which the low kaolinite clay (considered as waste by the clay industry) was effectively utilized as a raw material in the cement manufacturing process to reduce the carbon emissions and researched for its potential towards enhancing the service life of structures. Her thesis was on electrochemical testing of steel embedded in highly resistive concrete systems such as “Limestone Calcined Clay Cement” in chloride environment and service life assessment. She has won several awards for her novel research work including RILEM Best Student Poster Award 2017. Her research interests include “Smart infrastructure materials,” "Life cycle assessment", “Structural health monitoring,” and “Durability of concrete structures.”
