Congratulations to Dr Abir Al-Tabbaa and Dr Janet Lees, both of whom have been awarded prizes for research papers in civil engineering this year.
Abir was awarded the Reed and Mallik Medal of the Institution of Civil Engineers for her paper, co-authored with her research student Nathalie Boes, entitled "Pilot in-situ auger mixing treatment of a contaminated site. Part 4. Performance at five years." This prestigious medal is awarded for the best paper published in the previous year covering the construction aspects of a civil engineering project.
Janet received the American Society of Civil Engineers award for the Best Basic Research Paper for 2002 in the ASCE Journal of Composites for Construction. The title of the paper, co-authored with A.U. Winistoerfer and U. Meier, was "External prestressed carbon fiber-reinforced polymer straps for shear enhancement of concrete."
