Tsinghua is the top university in China with an international standing in the research of cutting-edge technology.  We are privileged to have such a close and long-term working relationship between our two institutions.

The Forum aims for an inclusive exchange of academic views and presentations on the latest research from both institutions.  For the first time, the event was extended to include not only all the different divisions in the Department of Engineering but also to the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Cambridge, and to the Department of Precision Instrument, Department of Computer Science and Institute of Microelectronics at Tsinghua. 

This year’s Forum had four sessions with 14 presentations from both institutions.  The talks covered a wide range of topics, such as:

• Wireless communications and sensing,
• Computing in memrister,
• Quantum communications,
• Artificial intelligence and information sensing,
• High energy-efficient reconfigurable neural network processors,
• Ultra-fast neural networks,
• Machine learning,
• Oxide thin-film transistors,
• Graphene and carbon nanotubes for functional films and interconnects,
• Semiconductor nanowires for optoelectronic devices,
• Optical fibre sensing technology and its applications for soft robotics, 
• Civil engineering, and cell traction force characterisation.

More than 120 people attended the Forum, including Professor Richard Prager, Head of Technology School, Dr Claire Barlow, Head of the Department of Engineering, and Professor Ann Copestake, Head of the Computer Science Department.

Delegates from Beijing Innovation Centre for Future Chips, Beijing Information Science and Technology University and TusPark also attended.
