The Whittle Laboratory was officially opened, as the 'Science Research Council Turbomachinery Laboratory', on 25 May 1973, by Air Commodore Sir Frank Whittle.
A 'virtual open day' has been created on the Department's web site to allow potential students who are unable to attend the actual event to get a flavour of the action.
A reception was held in the gardens of the Vice Chancellor's residence in Latham Road to celebrate the 50th year of Prince Philip as Patron of the Cambridge University Engineers' Association.
Many congratulations to the ten undergraduates in their second year, who have been awarded the prestigious Engineering Leadership Awards from the Royal Academy of Engineering.
