A new web site has been launched to bring together research currently undertaken within the Cambridge
University Engineering Department that is relevant to the environment. Environmental concerns provide scope
for the creative talents of engineers to be demonstrated, particularly in the development and application of
new technologies. Responsible professional engineering should remove or minimise environmental problems at
the design stage.
Thirty-eight projects are currrently
listed under the heading 'environmental related
research', including topics as diverse as minimising pollution, clean-up of contaminated land, improving
energy efficiency and a consideration of the engineering consequences of global warming and climate
change.
The launch of this site coincides with the launch of a new one year Master's degree course in Environmental Engineering and
Sustainable Development offered by the Department of Engineering with the support of the Cambridge-MIT
Institute(CMI). |
