|This evocative image is of a Departmental Mechanics Lab bicycle parked in the cycle racks. The image was highly commended in the Department's recent photo competition.
The photo was entered by Ben Barker, a third year undergraduate. He explains a little about the the
inspiration behind the image:
"This photo was taken in the bike racks outside the Baker Building. The bike has been there for as long as
I've been a student (3 years) and I'm not convinced it has ever moved, although a quick check of the tyres
shows that either someone does indeed use it or the Department have developed the cyclist's dream of a
perpetually full inner tube! It caught my attention from the sign hanging below its crossbar - particularly
striking that the rustiest bike in the Department should belong to the Mechanics Lab. If someone reading this
knows the no doubt colourful history of this bike, feel free to put me staight at email@example.com!"
Other photographs entered for the competition will be displayed on the Department's home page in the near
future, and are available to view in an image
