Students and early-career professionals of all disciplines are encouraged to apply to the Falling Walls Lab Cambridge – an international competition that challenges you to showcase a breakthrough that positively impacts science and society, in just three minutes.

The winner will go on to compete in the grand finale to be held in Berlin, at the end of this year. Last year’s winner, Yizhou Yu, PhD student at the MRC Toxicology Unit, went on to finish as a runner-up at the grand finale in November 2023.
The Falling Walls Lab Cambridge will take place on Thursday 20 June, at 11am, at the Department of Engineering.
David Tual, Director of the Centre for Languages and Inter-Communication (CLIC) at the Department of Engineering and one of the organisers of the competition, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself on stage and showcase your innovation. We encourage all undergraduates, postgraduates and postdocs to apply – you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, including exposure for your idea, strengthened communications skills, and opportunities to network and foster collaboration.”
The Falling Walls Lab Cambridge is organised by the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge; the Federal Foreign Office of Germany; and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
