The winner will go on to compete in the grand finale to be held in Berlin, Germany, in November 2025. Last year’s winner of the Cambridge heat was Dr Dante McGrath, Research Associate in Marine Cloud Brightening at the Centre for Climate Repair, with his pitch titled Breaking the wall of the melting Arctic.
The Falling Walls Lab UK is organised by the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge; the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); the Federal Foreign Office of Germany; and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
“We are inviting all undergraduates, postgraduates and postdocs to apply,” said Jan-Moritz Bogdanovic, competition organiser and DAAD Lector/Coordinator and teacher of German at Cambridge. “You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, including exposure for your idea, strengthened communications skills and opportunities to network and foster collaboration.”
