Research interests
Nikolaos Kateris's research is in the area of thermodynamics at the molecular scale, with applications in propulsion, energy and nanomaterials. Research themes include multiphase detonation; battery thermal runaway; carbon nanoparticles and aerosols.

Biography
Nikolaos Kateris is an Assistant Professor of Energy in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge and a member of the Energy Group. He is also a Fellow and Director of Studies at Trinity College. Prior to joining the University of Cambridge, Nikolaos was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University. Nikolaos obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2024 and his BA (Hons) and MEng in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2018.
