Research interests
Pasquale investigates how light interacts with molecular and solid-state systems at the nanoscale, combining optical spectroscopy and quantum photonics.
He specializes in systems governed by quantum behaviour, such as Bose–Einstein condensates in microcavities and atomic-scale defects in semiconductors (SiC, diamond), with applications in emerging quantum technologies, such as quantum communication, computing, and sensing.
After conducting research at Southampton, Berkeley (USA), and Edinburgh, he joined the University of Cambridge to focus on biophotonics. His current work investigates photosynthetic light-harvesting complexes on a chip to uncover quantum effects for light-harvesting and future quantum technologies.
